- ½ cup white wine (such as sauvignon blanc)
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, reserving ½ cup pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet, melt the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion; sauté for 3 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Add the heavy cream and bring to a boil.
- Mix in the reserved pasta water and simmer until the sauce thickens, approximately 5 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat.
- Incorporate grated parmesan cheese into the sauce until melted.
- Add the cooked spaghetti and toss everything together until well combined.
- Serve garnished with additional parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
Notes
For a lighter version, you can reduce the amount of butter and cream.
