Description

Hamburger Hash is a satisfying meal featuring ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese. Ideal for a quick dinner, this dish is packed with flavor and requires minimal prep time, making it perfect for busy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium russet potatoes peeled and 1/2-inch diced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium white onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 2½ cups freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Boil cubed potatoes in salted water for 5–7 minutes until fork-tender, then drain and set aside to steam-dry.
  2. In a large non-stick skillet over high heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, then drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat, add diced onion, par-boiled potatoes, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring until potatoes have golden edges and onions are translucent.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and mix well. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the mixture and stir until melted and gooey, binding everything together.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the ground beef with turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter version.
Adding bell peppers or mushrooms can enhance the flavor and texture of the dish.
This hash can be topped with a fried egg for a delicious brunch option.
