Description

These Apple Cinnamon Scones bring together the hearty flavors of fresh apples and soothing spices, making them a perfect treat for any time of day. Quick and easy to prepare, they are great for breakfast or as a delightful snack with afternoon tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter frozen & grated
  • 1½ cups grated apple granny smith, gala, or pink lady
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg cold
  • ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream cold
  • ½ cup cinnamon sweet bits store bought or make your own
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and prepare a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the grated butter and grated apples, mixing well.
  3. Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; stir until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and then fold it into the mixture along with the cream, combining thoroughly.
  5. Incorporate the cinnamon sweet bits gently into the dough.
  6. Scoop and shape the dough as desired and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake until golden, and finish with a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.

Notes

Chilling the dough for a short time helps in shaping scones more easily.
Feel free to substitute the apples with your favorite variety or mix.
These scones can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
