Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (426g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups (396g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (227g) sour cream
  • ½ cup (118ml) milk
  • 2 ½3 cups (about 285-315g) diced apples, cut into ¼-inch chunks
  • 1 cup (113g) powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 24 tbsp heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to your baking dish requirements.
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan, ensuring it measures appropriately for your recipe.
  3. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In another mixing bowl, blend the melted butter and dry mix until incorporated.
  5. Combine the baking powder, softened butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a different bowl, mixing until smooth.
  6. Add the sour cream and milk, blending well.
  7. Fold in the diced apples gently to ensure even distribution in the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Let cool, then prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cream or milk to desired consistency.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake before serving.

Notes

Ensure the apples are cut evenly for uniform baking.
You can add nuts or raisins for extra texture if desired.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to retain moisture.
