Description

This Apple Dapple Cake is a delightful treat with its moist, rich texture and the sweetness of fresh apples. With simple ingredients and easy preparation, it’s ideal for gatherings or a comforting dessert at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups oil
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well combined.
  5. Peel and chop enough apples to measure 4 cups. Fold the apples into the batter.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Stir frequently until the mixture begins to simmer. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Pour the glaze over the cake while it's still warm.

Notes

Ensure the apples are evenly chopped for consistent flavor in every bite.
For added texture, consider adding nuts like walnuts or pecans to the batter.
The glaze can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
