Description
Enjoy juicy, flavorful BBQ chicken thighs with a simple marinade. This dish features boneless, skinless chicken thighs, brown sugar, and homemade southern BBQ sauce, perfect for a quick family dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2.5 lbs chicken thighs boneless skinless
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 cup homemade southern bbq sauce
Instructions
- Place chicken thighs in a large bowl, then add brown sugar, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, and avocado oil. Mix well to combine and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Take the marinated chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes before grilling.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken thighs to the grill and lower the heat to medium. Close the lid and grill for a few minutes on each side until charred with grill marks.
- When the chicken is nearly cooked through, baste both sides with BBQ sauce and move to indirect heat to finish cooking and allow sauce to absorb.
- Ensure the internal temperature reaches 175-190°F for dark meat, or 165°F for white meat. Remove from the grill and serve with additional BBQ sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, allow the chicken to marinate overnight.
Make sure to check the internal temperature of the chicken for safe consumption.
Serve with side dishes like coleslaw or corn on the cob for a complete meal.
