- 1 cup yellow mustard
- 1/3 cup dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke, like applewood or hickory
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup of beer
Instructions
- In a non-reactive saucepan, mix the yellow mustard, dijon mustard, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, liquid smoke, dark brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, apple cider vinegar, and beer until well combined.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat and bring it to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Once done, remove the saucepan from heat, adjust the seasoning to taste, and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature.
- Transfer the cooled sauce to an airtight glass container and store it in the fridge for up to 1 month.
Notes
For a smoother texture, blend the sauce after cooling.
Adjust the level of hot sauce to increase or decrease the spice as desired.
Great on grilled meats or as a dipping sauce for appetizers.
