Description

This Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread is a delicious blend of ripe bananas, chocolate chunks, and walnuts. It’s easy to make and perfect for a cozy breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 2 oz chopped walnuts
  • 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 10×5 loaf pan (1.5 lb size) and dust with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda until fully combined.
  5. Add the flour and cinnamon, and mix gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks, reserving some for garnish if desired.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with reserved chocolate chunks and walnuts if using.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.

Notes

Make sure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor.
The baking time may vary, so check for doneness around the 60-minute mark.
Tent with foil if it’s browning too quickly.
