Description
This Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread is a delicious blend of ripe bananas, chocolate chunks, and walnuts. It’s easy to make and perfect for a cozy breakfast or dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- 2 oz chopped walnuts
- 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 10×5 loaf pan (1.5 lb size) and dust with flour to prevent sticking.
- Mash the bananas in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda until fully combined.
- Add the flour and cinnamon, and mix gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks, reserving some for garnish if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with reserved chocolate chunks and walnuts if using.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.
Notes
Make sure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor.
The baking time may vary, so check for doneness around the 60-minute mark.
Tent with foil if it’s browning too quickly.
