Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Halve each onion, discard the ends and peel, then slice each half into thin strips.
- Place the sliced onions in the crockpot. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper, mixing to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or cook overnight and keep warm until ready to serve.
- Stir in sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and optional hot sauce. Mix until combined and taste for seasoning, adjusting salt and pepper as needed.
- To serve warm, keep in the slow cooker on the 'keep warm' setting. For a cold dip, transfer to a container and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
For a thicker dip, drain the excess juices from the onions before mixing in the other ingredients.
Feel free to adjust the hot sauce according to your spice preference.
This dip pairs well with chips, veggies, or toasted bread.
