This Homemade Apple Cider Syrup is full of irresistible flavor and simple to make. Combining apple juice with spices, it’s ideal for pancakes, waffles, and desserts!

- 2 cups apple juice, or fresh apple cider
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan set over medium heat, combine the apple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, apple cider vinegar, and butter. Whisk until well blended.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, and let it boil for 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from heat, add the vanilla extract, and stir to combine.
- Allow the syrup to cool completely before serving it over pancakes, waffles, French toast, or ice cream.
Notes
Store any leftover syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Adjust the spices according to your personal taste for a customized flavor.
This syrup can also be used as a glaze for meats or added to baked goods.
