Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 whole granny smith apples
  • 12 lollipop sticks or popsicle sticks
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate wafers, white or milk chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup toppings, sprinkles, crushed candy bars, crystal sugar, etc.

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples in a mixture of water and vinegar to remove wax. Dry the apples thoroughly.
  2. Remove the stem from each apple and insert a lollipop stick about 3/4 of the way through the top of each apple.
  3. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place the apples on it.

Notes

Ensure apples are completely dry before applying caramel for better adhesion.
Experiment with different toppings to personalize your caramel apples.
For a smoother caramel, stir continuously while it cooks.
